The Power of You

In a time where we feel increasingly powerless, perhaps the opposite is really true.

There are unfortunate people out there who will accept the unacceptable to hold onto power and prestige. They control us with fear, uncertainty and doubt, instead of faith, vision and hope.

We inherently know right from wrong. And we have the power to be an influence for good.

Perhaps it helpful to recenter our thinking with these quotes from Fred Rogers.

“The world needs a sense of worth, and it will achieve it only by its people feeling that they are worthwhile.”

“The real issue in life is not how many blessings we have, but what we do with our blessings. Some people have many blessings and hoard them. Some have few and give everything away.”

“As human beings, our job is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has – or ever will have – something inside that is unique to all time. It’s our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.”

“If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”

If you could do one thing this week to contribute to a positive tomorrow, to minimize one person’s suffering, to share a random act of kindness… What would it be?
